Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How does the process work?
A. It’s easy! Click on the Order Now button and take a minute to tell us what you are looking for. This will give us a clear picture of your needs (video upcoming games or editing footage that you have already taken)…and what kind of video you want (recruiting video, team highlight video, raw game footage, etc). After you submit the form, we’ll send you a precise quote explaining how much it will cost, plus we’ll check our schedules to confirm videographer availability for your dates. You can then pay online with a credit card or PayPal account, and videographers are scheduled in the order that payments are received. If you want us to edit your raw footage, we provide instructions on how to mail us a flash drive…or you can upload your footage online straight from your computer (whichever you prefer). The first draft of your edited video is then posted online for your review and feedback, and we’ll incorporate your guidance in the final version.
Q. How long have you been in business?
A. American Sports Memories started in 2010, and quickly grew in scope to provide coverage from coast to coast. We have produced thousands of sports videos for athletes around the country, and continue to grow from word-of-mouth recommendations. See what other customers have to say about American Sports Memories by clicking here.
Q. Where are you located?
A. American Sports Memories has videographers around the country…see our locations here. All of the footage is then transmitted to our Central Studios in Atlanta for editing, and posted online for client review.
Q. What kind of formats will you use to send me my video?
A. Depending on the packages you select, we can provide your video as a link that can be e-mailed to coaches and recruiters for online viewing…you can also download the digital file of your recruiting video so YOU can upload your video to YouTube or any college recruiting websites that you are working with…and we can also provide DVD disks that your athlete can hand to coaches as a leave-behind at ID Camps and campus visits (yes, there are still plenty of college programs that watch highlight videos on DVD).
Q. How long does it take to produce my recruiting video?
A. We usually have the first draft online for your review and feedback within 7-10 days of receiving the footage. If you are in a time crunch, we can have it online for your approval within 72 hours with our expedited services.
Q. What is your rescheduling policy?
A. If your event is cancelled due to weather, just let us know before the videographers leave their home and we will work with you to reschedule for another game…if the videographer has already departed for the venue we will owe them something for their time. If your athlete will no longer be able to play in an upcoming game due to injury we will work with you in good faith to reschedule coverage when they are able to return to the field. We are unable to provide refunds if your athlete performed poorly or did not get the expected amount of playing time.
Q. Can I pick my favorite music to be the soundtrack in the video?
A. While some coaches claim to not listen to the sound when watching recruiting videos, we have found that most do and therefore synchronize your highlights to royalty-free music (allowing you to post your recruiting video to YouTube and other sites with no worries about copyright infringement). Yes your videos can be synchronized to your favorite tunes from the radio, but you would have to provide the music for us and represent in writing that all licensing issues have been taken care of (frankly, coaches find lyrics distracting and your choice of musical artist is not going to improve your chances for a scholarship). Our music library was selected specifically with sports highlights in mind….not too distracting for coaches, but the right backdrop to support sports highlight action sequences.
Q. What if I want you to use my still photos AND my raw video footage to create a video production?
A. No problem! We can easily combine your footage with our footage to create a smooth highlight video.
Q. What if I don’t like your video; can I get my money back?
A. All clients ordering an edited highlight video have the opportunity to view the video in advance and provide one round of feedback that will be incorporated into the final version. Clients rarely request additional rounds of editing, but if they do we will provide a quote for each subsequent round of editing. Once the video has been sent to you, it is non-refundable. We are in the business of producing outstanding recruiting videos, and our customer satisfaction rate exceeds 99%.
Q. After you have finished our video, can we come back later and have more highlights added?
A. Of course! Many clients consider their first recruiting video a “working draft”, and prefer to update it several times a year as their athlete’s skills improve. Some old highlights can be removed, new ones can be added, SAT scores can be updated, etc.
Q. How much is shipping and handling and sales tax?
A. Depending on the package you requested and where you live, shipping and handling may run between $10-$15 and sales tax may run about $4-$6.
Q. Are there other companies who do this for less money?
A. Yes, perhaps you can find a high school student or freelance videographer who might charge less. Be sure to check their coaching credentials and sports recruiting video production experience, and ask to see examples of their work and a list of satisfied parents who had their children recruited by Division I, II, and III coaches. You can see some of our work here and unsolicited parent feedback here. We believe in hiring reliable videographers who will show up early and use professional equipment; training them in how to cover specific sports; and hiring editors with many years of sports editing experience. We double-check our work, and give clients an opportunity to preview and suggest changes before their videos are finalized. We strongly believe our videos are compelling, above average, and grab coaches’ attention!
